FIRE HALL DEMOLITION & RECONSTRUCTION!

On May 23, 2001 demolition began on the old hall

On December 23, 2000 fire destroyed our hall. It is un-heard of that a fire hall would burn, but in Irvona, it seems as though anything can and probably will happen. We found that out in just a few months time.

Less than five months after the fire, the demolition of the hall began and today, all that really remains is a whole in the ground.

The fire hall was a restaurant, a silent movie theater, a bank an insurance office and even the post office at one time. When the fire broke out most everyone was shocked. One person in town (at least that works in town) thought it was funny and she laughed about it. This web master no longer shops there.

The old hall is now gone, as some of the pictures below will demonstrate. Thanks to the valuable and hard work by Pat Oldecker and Earthmovers Inc. of Morrisdale the building is mostly gone. A new building will soon replace the burned one and should arrive very soon.

It will be a five bay hall with a banquet facility. I plan to have pictures of the new hall as it goes up, and I simply can't wait.

Problems keep popping up every time we think we are getting ahead, but like the past year, we will get through the difficult times, and come back to life stronger than ever.

Please check out the thumb nails below and don't forget to sign the guest book before leaving.

As you may have read in the story about the hall burning, one of the many things it was is a bank. The old Vault gave us a lot of trouble. But, when it was all said and done, Pat have cleared it away.

Stay tuned to this page, in a short while there will be a link on this page to take you to another page where you can see the construction of the hall.
